Ingredients:
- 5 tablespoons organic shea butter
- 2 heaping tablespoons organic beeswax
- 3/4 cup organic olive oil
- 1 cup magnesium oil
- 60 drops lavender essential oil
- 35 drops frankincense essential oil
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
Instructions:
- Measure out the shea butter, beeswax, olive oil, magnesium oil, lavender essential oil, frankincense essential oil, and vitamin E oil.
- In a double boiler, melt the shea butter, beeswax, and olive oil together over low heat.
- Once melted, remove from heat.
- Add magnesium oil to the melted mixture.
- Blend the mixture using an immersion blender or mixer until well combined.
- Allow the mixture to cool in the fridge until it reaches around 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It should start to solidify around the edges.
- Once the mixture has cooled to the desired temperature, add the lavender and frankincense essential oils, along with the vitamin E oil.
- Blend again to incorporate the essential oils evenly.
- Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to whip the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy. This may take a few minutes.
- Transfer the whipped magnesium butter to a clean, airtight container. I prefer amber glass jars but any non metal container will do.
- Apply a small amount of the magnesium butter to your skin, focusing on areas where you want to promote relaxation, relieve sore muscles and alleviate muscle cramps.
- Use it before bedtime on the soles of your feet for a calming effect on both your skin and senses.
- Store the magnesium butter in a cool, dry place. If the temperature is warm, the butter may soften, but it will solidify again when cooled.
- Some individuals may experience a mild tingling or itching sensation upon applying this body butter. This reaction is often a result of the magnesium content, which can stimulate nerve endings and improve circulation. It's a sign that the body butter is working its magic. If you're new to magnesium-based products, consider doing a patch test before widespread application.
